I mainly paint in Acrylics, which I love for the versatility- you can paint vibrant thick colours or very subtle washes. I have enjoyed using pastels and oils too, especially on courses and workshops to explore other media and techniques. I seem to choose varied subjects – lots of landscapes, seasides, towns and buildings and people. They all interest me because of the way light falls on them, giving darks and lights and even drama to them.
I’ve been actively painting now for about six years, although I always dabbled before, when I worked. I’m following in the footsteps of my painting mother, and managed to squeeze A level Art at night school into life when my twins were tiny- perhaps the only grown up three hours in my week then! I love developing all the time and taking on new challenges. I took part in Warwickshire Open Studios in 2017, exhibit with KAG twice a year and occasionally with LSA artists at East Lodge in Jephson Gardens, Leamington. I’ve painted commissions, and now make prints of my pictures and a range of greetings cards. All of this gives me different ways to enjoy the fascinating undertaking of painting.
